On April 27, 2023, language service provider (LSP) Akorbi announced that Harrison Tucker had joined the company as CFO.
Tucker’s experience covers more than 10 years in technology and healthcare, including financial management positions at companies such as HealthSmart, FedEx, and game developer Game Circus.
Most recently, Tucker was the Senior Director of Finance at Payer Compass, which he led through a successful sale to healthcare payments company Zelis.
According to Akorbi CEO and Cofounder Claudia Mirza, Tucker’s experience “will be critical to Akorbi achieving our next phase of growth as we continue our evolution from a leading language services provider to a more technology-centric offering.”
Plano, Texas-headquartered Akorbi, founded in 2003, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. In 2021, the company acquired RunMyProcess, a low-code platform for translation-based workflows.
Mirza told Slator that Tucker will focus on “investments, potential acquisition targets, and making Akorbi a platform company.”
With 544 full-time employees, Akorbi is one of the largest privately-owned LSPs in the United States. Slator’s 2023 Language Service Provider Index (LSPI) ranked Akorbi 29th out of nearly 350 companies.
Akorbi’s self-reported USD 58.2m in revenue for 2022 — a 22.5% increase in over USD 47.5m in 2021 — placed the company firmly in the LSPI’s “Leaders” category of LSPs with revenues above USD 25m.
Also in 2021, Akorbi was one of eight LSPs on the Inc. 5000, an annual ranking of the fastest-growing companies in the US.
