The European Language Industry Association – Elia – invites language industry project managers to the first and only conference dedicated entirely to this essential function. ND Focus – Elia’s focus on Project Management takes place on 1-2 December 2016 in Barcelona, with a Pre-Conference Technology Day on 30 November 2016.
Aimed at project managers of all levels, the event has been designed to build lasting new skills and challenge assumptions to create a competitive edge for attendees and their companies. “This is the first event of its kind to be totally focused on project management and is an opportunity that cannot be missed by anyone involved in such a fundamental role for our industry” says Cristiana Luppi of Crestec Europe.
The first full day of the conference (1 December) will be a traditional conference format, with established experts addressing key aspects of this vital function:
- Time management: stop feeling overwhelmed and get more done in less time
Romina Kohei, Co-founder of GliderPath, a translation workflow management tool - Negotiate your way to successful project management
Alexander Freeland, Business Developer at AlterNego, specialists in negotiation and conflict management - I’m a project manager… and I’m in sales?
Giovanna Draghi, Senior Client Service Manager at Sajan, global translation service provider - Culture – a game played by the rules. But whose rules?
Loes Husain-Cornelissen, Working with Prof. Geert Hofstede, the globally recognised expert in cultural differences
The Keynote will challenge the audience to reframe their assumptions about these four cornerstones of project management and change their way of thinking to become more efficient, delivered by Philosopher Karim Benammar, PhD at the end of Day 1.
Day 2 will be fully interactive, with a series of breakout sessions focusing on each of the four topics, moderated by the respective expert presenter. Each working group will be carefully created according to attendees’ profiles, matching experience levels and company size for a stimulating peer-to-peer group dynamic. The event will end with a recap of the discussions to impart best practice that is uncovered throughout the day.
To complement the programme, the Pre-Conference Technology Day on 30 November is the perfect opportunity for project managers to find out about the latest solutions for handling their day-to-day work. This pre-event is free to attend and will feature six leading technology providers offering advanced training in their project management tools: SDL, memoQ, GliderPath, Matecat, Plunet, Protemos .
“We have created this event so that all project managers or anyone working in project management, no matter their level of experience, will come away feeling inspired and invigorated, whether through discovering the latest technology or a brand new approach. Thanks to the structure of the event and the fact that all speakers have lengthy, direct experience in their areas of expertise, we have already had an excellent response from language service companies and places are selling fast,” commented Lara Millmow, Elia Managing Director.
Early Bird registration closes 11 November 2016. To find out more and to register, please visit: pm2016.elia-ndfocus.org.
