How Technology, Europe’s MiFID II, and China’s inclusion into the MSCI index are fundamentally changing Equity Research.

The deadline for MiFID II is fast approaching. It is now clear that procurement of equity research is among the most challenging operational, strategic and regulatory issues for asset managers. While MiFID II was drafted for Europe, its impact will be felt worldwide.

This radically new regulatory environment is coinciding with an unprecedented wave of technology innovation, which is challenging all aspects of the underinvested financial sector.

On the demand side, China’s recent inclusion in MSCI’s benchmark emerging markets index will spur demand for A-shares.

While the buy-side still struggles to adapt to the new rules on assessing research quality, setting budgets and communicating costs to clients, sell-side research offerings are in the midsts in of a fundamental change.

This exclusive executive roundtable will explore the following questions:

How is equity research changing? How can the sell- and buy-side adapt to and benefit from the new landscape? And how will technological disruption and impending regulatory changes affect the way equity research is produced and consumed. We will also discuss:

  • The regulatory map
  • Working with the buy-side post-MiFID II
  • How will China’s MSCI inclusion affect volumes
  • The new distribution models
  • Evaluating investment research
