This Hong Kong University Is Seeking a Dean for the School of Translation and Foreign Languages

The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), a private, non-profit liberal arts university founded in 2010, is seeking a new Dean of the School of Translation and Foreign Languages. The Deanship full-time appointment’s initial term will last three to four years, with the possibility of renewal. 

The School of Translation and Foreign Languages at HSUHK offers one undergraduate program and two postgraduate programs in translation within several specializations. The school also offers academic and professional training in interpreting and multiple courses in business disciplines, foreign languages, and European Studies.

Research efforts in translation currently cover Chinese-English Translation and Interpreting, Translation Technology, Business Law Translation, and Translation and Culture. The school also has a Business Translation Center and a Research Center for Translation of Buddhist Texts.

The Dean will report to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research). This executive post shares responsibilities with the rest of the school’s senior leadership team over the university’s strategic plans. Areas on which the Dean will have oversight include student admission, program development and accreditations, teaching and learning, research, and collaboration with industry and other institutions.
