We are looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager to join our team and help grow our company. In this newly created role, your focus will be on selling our multilingual translation and documentation services, developing profitable and enduring business relationships with new clients as well as increasing volume with existing customers who are at home in the software and engineering industries. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to generate leads, close sales, determine market pricing and, in general, help us to generate greater revenue. The responsibilities associated with this position will grow with the business.


This role requires an individual with excellent sales hunting instincts and a solid knowledge of the translation industry and/or the software industry. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Understand the translation industry and competitive landscape and help management to develop a strategic plan
  • Formulate sales plans to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
  • Generate daily outreach efforts to prospective clients
  • Build a productive pipeline and manage each phase of the sales process
  • Prepare and present translation and documentation solutions to prospective clients
  • Research and pursue RFP opportunities
  • Own and drive competitive bidding events to support new sales activities
  • Responsible for calling on and closing sales with new and existing customers, including cold calling and direct marketing activities
  • Participate in trade fairs and similar events to generate leads and promote the company
  • Retain and grow revenue and account share
  • Responsible for client satisfaction throughout the life of a relationship
  • Possess a high degree of initiative and work closely with senior management


  • Hold a university degree or equivalent in a commercial, sales-related, or technical discipline
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience successfully selling to mid-market client accounts, preferably in the software, engineering, or electronics industries
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to actively contribute to the growth and success of the business
  • Proactive thinker with the ability to use own initiative
  • Proven planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and German (more languages credited)
  • Experience of a CRM system
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Work effectively on own initiative, and as part of a team


  • Remuneration: basic salary (negotiable, depending on experience) plus commission
  • Flexible working environment with opportunities for home working (you do not necessarily have to be based in Stuttgart)
