Kilgray releases memoQ 8.2

Kilgray Translation Technologies, a developer of translation productivity tools, has released memoQ 8.2. The new version is designed to improve the productivity of translators, translation companies and enterprises.

Budapest (Hungary) 13 September, 2017

One of the key challenges facing global businesses is how to reach out to people across the world speaking different languages. They often do this by using Content Management Systems such as WordPress and tools like memoQ to manage translation. Integrating these tools makes the process much easier, and the introduction of the new WPML filter in memoQ 8.2 does just that. The new filter allows easy and robust management for WordPress XLIFF files, enables correct markup, segmentation, and a useful visual preview.

Excel and XML files are frequently used for sharing multilingual content. Many memoQ customers have reported that they will often get an update to a file while they are in the process of translating it. In memoQ 8.2, we have introduced enhancements to the existing multilingual (Excel, XML) file filter by enabling re-import and X-translate. This will be a major productivity booster for translators, language service providers and enterprises that work with multilingual Excel files with regular updates.

Machine translation is another key theme for memoQ in 2017. memoQ 8.1 featured new integrations with neural MT engines, and memoQ 8.2 follows this lead by introducing self-learning MT. This new version also features centralized MT settings, with project managers being able to get full control when setting up machine translation in translation projects. Setting up machine translation for teams and multilingual projects has become much more efficient, and it is now possible to save and reuse MT configurations for different types of projects. Further development of machine translation includes the integration with memoQ’s MatchPatch: when a translation memory hit differs only by a few words, and those terms are not listed in term base, Machine Translation can be invoked to provide the missing part, “completing” the partial hit.

We are also opening new opportunities for the regex tagger feature: pre-defined filter configurations can now contain several regex tagger “steps”, while previous versions only allowed one. This will simplify the handling of tricky document file types that require complex tagging.

With memoQ 8.2, users can now localize web applications with a high-quality in-context preview through the new rigi.io integration. This integration highlights Kilgray’s efforts to keep further developing memoQ’s real-time translation preview, which has seen significant improvements during 2017. Other highlights in memoQ 8.2 include: automated Subvendor workflow and GroupSourcing from project templates; manually exported reports of reviewer changes based on tracked changes; marking translation segments as translated or reviewed without sending the segments to the translation memory; simplified project package imports from SDL Studio, SDL WorldServer, and STAR Transit; re-categorizing QA warnings to errors; an improved web search; and many others.
