Lionbridge has named Menaka Thillaiampalam its new Chief Marketing Officer, effective March 20, 2023. Thillaiampalam brings over two decades of experience to the role, including stints at firms including Dell Technologies, Amazon Web Services, Banking Circle Group, LinkedIn, and Accenture.
Thillaiampalam will report to Chief Executive Officer John Fennelly and will be based in the company’s Waltham, Massachusetts office.
About joining the language services industry and Lionbridge in particular, Thillaiampalam told Slator that “as a second-generation Sri Lankan Tamil, I understand the importance of how languages are powerful tools to connect people to cultures and backgrounds. I align to Lionbridge’s mission to help our clients break down language barriers and reach global markets effectively. It’s not just about helping global brands grow their bottom line, but it’s also about helping people gain access to products or services in their native language that help them live better lives.”
In her previous roles, Thillaiampalam worked on global brand localization and applied her expertise in connecting with target audiences in multiple languages toward improving customer engagement, increasing reach, and growing revenue. She was also the recipient of the OnConferences 2022 Marketer of the Year Award.
On the subject of language AI, Thillaiampalam told Slator that “as we see the industry rapidly embracing continuous localization and the evolution of Generative AI solutions, we see the need for high-performance content analysis, quality review, and delivery that can only be achieved with highly sophisticated, integrated AI capabilities throughout the delivery process. Lionbridge intends to lead our customers and the industry into this new and exciting future.”
The new CMO added that “marketing has a key role to play in this evolution. Partnering with our product, technology, and go-to-market colleagues, we’ll be working to shape the industry-wide narrative around this transformation, helping our customers understand the potential opportunities, and truly embedding this exciting new future into the DNA of Lionbridge.”
