Iyuno, one of the fastest growing Super Agencies in 2022 by way of acquisitions as well as organic growth, continues the trend in 2023 and ends Q2 on a high note with the addition of  Turkey’s Ak’la Kara, a dubbing and subtitling firm based in Istanbul. The announcement was made on June 5th, 2023, with the deal having closed on June 1st.

Ak’la Kara International, now known as Iyuno Turkey, has been in business since 2000. Savaş Özdural and Kerem Kobanbay were the firm’s joint owners prior to its sale to Iyuno. The Turkish company was known to Iyuno as a vendor of dubbing and subtitling services for a number of years, and in the months leading up to the acquisition Iyuno had made an investment in it. The financial terms were not disclosed.

Iyuno Turkey has been a service provider for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Riot Games, and Discovery. It now becomes part of the greater Central and Eastern Europe operations at Iyuno, led by regional managing director Magdalena Dziemidowicz and Turkey managing director Muge Cosgun.

Slator asked Iyuno CEO David Lee how he foresees leveraging / growing Iyuno Turkey’s capabilities for global (not just Turkish) content localization, to which he answered that the firm “will enjoy the benefits of operating as a part of a global company.” He added that Iyuno “looks forward to continuing our exploration of the capabilities Iyuno Turkey can offer the broader regional and global markets, as well as the local Turkish market.”

Regarding its plans for more acquisitions in the immediate future, Lee said that “Iyuno continues to search for compatible opportunities that align with our company’s growth and service breadth strategy.”

Financial details were not disclosed for the acquisition, but Iyuno’s 2022 revenue was just over USD 500m.
