memoQ held memoQfest, its 10th annual conference on translation technology from 30 May – 1 June 2018 in Budapest, Hungary. It was the biggest event memoQ has ever organized: more than 250 people attended from 30 different countries to learn about the newest industry trends, see the most recent developments in memoQ and get real-life tips and tricks from the memoQ team and other experienced users. Check out what attendees had to say about the conference!

“The word on the street is that memoQ outdid themselves. Without a doubt, memoQfest 2018 was the most successful global memoQfest yet,” said Kaori Myatt from Word Connection.

memoQfest 2018The conference started off with hands-on workshops on 30 May featuring 25 sessions for beginners, advanced, and highly advanced (engineering) users. The main conference days on 31 May and 1 June were packed with meaningful presentations from industry professionals: Nataly Kelly’s (HubSpot) keynote presentation featured how AI can help redefine human work, while other sessions gave real-life examples on how memoQ can help improve and optimize the entire translation/localization workflow.

The conference also had many interactive sessions, where teams of 20-25 participants discussed specific issues like translation automation, terminology management, the future of MT, improving ROI and many other hot topics.

memoQ’s speech to text app Hey memoQ also made its debut at the conference: the app will support 38 languages and opens up speech to text software for iPhone users. This service will be available publicly soon.

“memoQfest was absolutely fantastic. The family feeling made it easy to meet other people, the sessions were highly informative and useful, and the various events were lots of fun. This conference exceeded my expectations and was a wonderful experience,” said Venga Global’s Errol Cleary.

memoQfest – as in previous years – was not only about presentations and discussions; fun was also an integral part of the event. Every participant who completed the evaluation sheet was satisfied with the event, in particular with the networking possibilities.

“As a first timer, I experienced all the legends about memoQfest: fantastic crowd and staff, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, yet very insightful tips and shared knowledge. Add great parties, perfect weather and some fun, and this was a terrific and inspiring industry event! Thanks for all the work!” expressed Gaëtan Chrétiennot from Six Continents.

memoQfest 2018 was sponsored by Plunet, XTRF, Consoltec, Globalese and easyling. Without their help, this year’s conference would not have been such a successful event.
