OpenAI is recruiting a Localization Manager as it continues to build its localization function.

The latest opening follows several localization-related hires over the past year. Public LinkedIn profiles show OpenAI has brought in localization professionals working across enterprise-wide localization, localization operations, and product localization.

Earlier this year, the company also opened Software Engineer, Localization roles to build the localization platform, translation workflows, and tools supporting international product launches.

The new role focuses on delivering localized marketing content across OpenAI’s highest-priority markets and products for both B2C and B2B audiences.

It covers the localization process from initial brief through final delivery, leading transcreation and cultural adaptation, coordinating language specialists and vendors, and overseeing terminology and quality across campaigns, video, subtitles, social media copy, prompts, push notifications, and app store content.

OpenAI says its localization team “operates differently from a traditional localization function,” relying on the company’s own AI products and technical stack to rethink how localized content is created, delivered, and scaled.

That is reflected throughout the job description, which places greater emphasis on AI-native workflows and technical execution than last year’s posting.

The 2025 role called for someone to “pilot and scale AI-first translation workflows with human-in-the-loop review,” while the new one expects candidates to demonstrate an “AI-native working style,” including the daily use of OpenAI’s Codex to plan and execute work, analyze information, and continuously improve workflows.

The role also reflects a more hands-on approach to AI-enabled localization. Candidates are expected to build and maintain lightweight automations, work with APIs and connectors, and continuously improve localization workflows.

It also places strong emphasis on program management, including turning creative briefs into localization plans, tracking dependencies, risks, and launch readiness, and reporting progress, tradeoffs, and business impact.

Despite the greater use of AI and automation, OpenAI continues to emphasize human judgment. AI is expected to support quality review by validating outputs and identifying inconsistencies rather than replace human decision-making.

The role offers an advertised compensation range of USD 207,000 to USD 230,000, compared with USD 315,000 in the 2025 posting. As with other OpenAI roles, the company notes that actual base pay depends on factors including location, skills, and experience.
