Who Went Where―The Week in Language Industry Hires

Another week, another batch of hirings in the global language services and technology industry. It was a week packed with appointments of business development and marketing professionals, as Slator continues with its weekly digest of industry hires. Mario Tarantino – Capita TI

Capita TI appointed Mario Tarantino its new Business Development Manager on February 1, 2016. Tarantino joins the Manchester-based language service provider after more than three years at competitor translate plus, where he was Account Manager before transitioning to a BDM role at Capita TI.

Asked why he decided to join Capita TI, Tarantino said it “sounded like a very exciting challenge,” adding that he is “very proud to be part of a top 20 global LSP.” According to Tarantino, he expects Capita TI to exceed previous achievements in the coming months and “contributing to all this is definitely a great opportunity.”

BDM Tarantino reports to David Jones, Sales Manager, who joined the company in March. Jones worked at UK-based Language Connect as Business Development Manager for two years prior to joining Capita TI.

Isabella Mori – Capita TI

Isabella Mori joined Capita TI as Recruitment Manager. She is a 15-year human resources veteran, having worked in the financial services, retail, and banking sectors as well as staffing and recruitment.

A recent Slator article pointed out how Capita TI is building out its technical translation business via its acquisition of ITR, a London-based technical translation provider. Capita TI is the language services arm of British conglomerate Capita plc.

Capita TI Managing Director, Kevin Gordon, told Slator they are considering further acquisitions across the pond as well as in Europe and that “a legal-focused translation business in the US” or another ITR would get their attention. For now, the hiring campaign for Capita TI’s UK posts continues.

Tumai Hoang – Lionbridge

Meanwhile, Lionbridge appointed Tumai Hoang UK Marketing Manager on March 7, 2016. She had previously worked as Digital Marketing Manager at a couple of London-headquartered firms: training solutions provider Reed Learning and publicly-listed financial services firm Legal & General.

Hoang is based in London, where Lionbridge now has an office thanks for the CLS acquisition, and reports to Boston-based Irina Jakovleva, Director of Global Marketing, Demand Generation. Hoang said, “It is an exciting time for the business right now and I wanted to be part of that journey.” Coming from a mixed marketing background, from traditional to digital, Hoang said she is “excited to bring a fresh approach” to the job.

Stefan Kreckwitz – Congree

Computer linguistics and software developer Congree announced it had a new CEO as of March 1, 2016. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Stefan Kreckwitz was CTO for eight years at Congree’s parent company Across Systems, a translation software company..

Sergey Dubrovskiy – Across

Across Systems, meanwhile, announced that, as of March 1, 2016, Sergey Dubrovskiy is its new Head of Development. He takes over the tasks previously handled by ex-CTO Kreckwitz. Dubrovskiy comes to the Germany-based Across from Across Systems Russia, where he served as CTO for more than eight years.

Steven Roberts – Language Scientific

Language Scientific appointed Steven Roberts as Director of Enterprise Sales. Roberts joins the Massachusetts-based language service provider from software company OpenSpan, where he spent over three years as Business Development Manager.

Bob Marone – LanguageLine Solutions

LanguageLine Solutions recently named Bob Marone as Business Development Manager. Marone comes to the Monterey-based language service provider from Lionbridge subsidiary CLS Communication’s New York office. Marone was Sales and Business Development Manager for four years at CLS.

Michael Trost – oneword

Germany-based language service provider oneword recently appointed Michael Trost as Business Development Manager. He comes from a similar role at UK-based LSP Asian Absolute and, before that, competitors Pearl Linguistics and The Translation People.

Mike Staley – Akorbi

Akorbi recently hired Mike Staley for Global Business Development. Prior to the Texas-based language service provider, Staley worked as Regional Sales Manager at Iowa-based software company BirdDogHR.

Isabella Massardo – Memsource

Isabella Massardo recently joined Memsource as Head of Marketing. Prior to Memsource, she worked as an Italian translator for over 24 years and was Project Manager at TAUS Academy until early this year.

Felix Donoso – SeproTec

Madrid-based language service provider SeproTec recently hired Felix Donoso as Senior Account Manager. Prior to joining SeproTec, Donoso worked as Translations Manager for over seven years at a Spanish division of outsourcing services provider Arvato Bertelsmann.

Asha Dowe – The Language Factory

Recently hired Asha Dowe as Marketing Manager at UK-based translation agency The Language Factory. She comes from four years of working in a marketing capacity at logistics and fulfillment company Air Business.

Delphine Gateau – TextMaster

TextMaster’s recently hired Delphine Gateau as Product Evangelist. Prior to working at the Belgium-based language service provider, she worked in various business analyst roles in Financial Services, Oil and Energy and, most lately, a French government agency.
