Phil Shawe, Ron Kuehl Join Rory Cowan, May Habib, K. Cho to Speak at SlatorCon NY

SlatorCon is coming to New York on October 12, 2017. Senior language industry executives, buyers, investors, and technologists will gather at the sleek Dream Hotel Downtown near Google’s New York City HQ to network and hear from some of the industry’s biggest names. The program is packed and presentations will be 20-minute TED-type talks, plus three to five minutes for Q&A.

New York City is home to TransPerfect, one of the industry’s most successful companies over the past decade. So we went out and landed Phil Shawe, TransPerfect’s Co-founder and Co-CEO.

And Shawe is just the latest addition to a stacked lineup of speakers. Traveling down to New York from Waltham, Massachusetts, is another industry titan, Lionbridge Chairman Rory Cowan, who will discuss what buyers of language service providers look for, and what owners should expect during the M&A process and post-acquisition phase.

Qordoba CEO May Habib will be flying in from tech epicenter San Francisco. Only a few months after raising USD 5m in a series A round from Upfront Ventures and Rincon Venture Partners, May will join SlatorCon to discuss the strategies and processes used by bleeding edge global marketers to create and target content for diverse international audiences.

We are excited to have Ron Kuehl, Managing Director at Frontenac, represent the investor-side. Frontenac is a leading private equity firm based in Chicago. The firm has raised over USD 1.5bn of capital since its inception and has made more than 200 investments.

If there was one industry topic that stole the spotlight from M&A over the past 12 months, it was neural machine translation (NMT). And who better to speak about the technology than one of its pioneers and most prolific researchers. Kyunghyun Cho, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Data Science at New York University, will walk participants through the current state-of-the-art in NMT and where the journey is going.

Also presenting and moderating a speaker’s panel will be Slator’s Florian Faes. Watch out for one or two more speaker announcements.
