MarkLogic is a New Cooperation Partner of the STAR Group

The solution PRISMA is based on MarkLogic’s database technology

MarkLogic Corporation, a leading provider of operational and transactional enterprise NoSQL databases, has a new OEM partner.  The STAR Group, a Swiss specialist for customized global information management systems, runs its solution PRISMA for Smart Content Services, based on the MarkLogic® platform. The partnership agreement encompasses the provision of the MarkLogic database platform to be used by customers of the STAR Group, including global automotive groups and commercial vehicle, as well as companies from the manufacturing industry and plant engineering. Both sides see the cooperation as a significant value add for their customers as well as an opportunity to develop further business areas in the course of Industry 4.0.

PRISMA provides intelligent content for digital processes and work environments, supporting Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things. Despite the increasing digitalization of work processes, many work steps will still be performed manually in the future. The production or maintenance of individual vehicle types, for example, requires a large number of different work steps. Until now, the information required was available as print manuals or general digital work instructions. Depending on the level of training and vehicle type, much of the information covered is superfluous for the individual employee. With PRISMA, skilled workers receive flexible, personalized support and additional assistance services in order to carry out their work productively.

PRISMA delivers the personalized information required “just in time” for each step of the process and makes the job easier for the employee by delivering automated calculations, checks and logs. Without time-consuming searches and with easy-to-understand instructions tailored to the employee, work becomes faster, more efficient and less prone to errors. In addition, existing PRISMA systems can obtain and process personalized product and process information as well as field feedback from a single source. This allows digitization projects to be accelerated and simplified. Previously, PRISMA was mainly used in after sales. However, it can be used wherever attractive, personalized support services are required instead of static information, such as in the finance & controlling sector. An initial joint project is being implemented in the non-technical division at a well-known European automobile manufacturer.

Matthias Gutknecht, responsible for Business Development at the STAR Group: “With MarkLogic we have found the ideal partner for our solution. Our customers benefit from considerable added value and receive a future-proof solution for the upcoming challenges of digitization. The necessary content for customer applications can either be semantically created with STAR’s GRIPS authoring solution or merged from a wide variety of data sources and personalized via PRISMA to suit the product, the business case and the user’s level of experience. This content hub provides excellent support for the functional PRISMA requirements and is ideally equipped for mission -critical applications”.

Weakly structured data, regardless of format, is quickly integrated from individual data silos, linked with each other and can be personalized in real time for the application. In addition, the solution has a multi-model approach and offers high scalability, flexibility and the highest security certifications. This makes it ideal for professional use in mission-critical applications.

MarkLogic too sees this cooperation as an important milestone for intelligent global information management solutions in companies. “We are delighted to have gained the internationally renowned STAR Group as a new partner,” said Andreas Rottenaicher, Director Alliances DACH at MarkLogic. “PRISMA is used in work environments where information must be available in real time, regardless of file format, media or technology. Therefore, the application is very well suited for use in medium-sized businesses and in large companies. The strengths of our database technology are addressing the right issues at PRISMA – both products complement each other perfectly.” The demand for intelligent information management solutions in complex work areas is currently increasing fast. Andreas Rottenaicher underlines: “We can see that companies are currently vigorously pursuing such projects and are doing their utmost to achieve efficient solutions for the integration, processing and evaluation of their data as quickly as possible. Only those who can generate real added value from their collected data and information will survive in the competition.”
