SDL Markets Query Management and Review Solutions from Kaleidoscope

Maidenhead / Vienna, May 11, 2016. SDL, the global market leader for translation technology, has recently started marketing two additional software solutions from Kaleidoscope: smartQuery and globalReview.

Customers around the world can now profit from a professional query management system and a translation review package brimming with quality management functions. This latest development reinforces the strong relationship between the two companies, which began in 2014 with SDL MultiTerm Workflow: a tool based on SDL’s MultiTerm and Kaleidoscope’s quickTerm programs.

“As customers are increasingly thinking in holistic terms, integrated solutions that cover the entire process chain are very much in demand,” explains Massimo Ghislandi, Vice President Sales and Marketing at SDL. “The special range of software developed by Kaleidoscope is a perfect match for our portfolio: while our solution targets the professional user, the Kaleidoscope solution can bring all other process stakeholders seamlessly into the loop.”

Kaleidoscope has a long history as the reseller of SDL translation software in the Austrian market. In recent years, the Vienna-based firm has also carved out an excellent reputation within the industry as a provider of proprietary software solutions. In addition to quickTerm, which has already made a name for itself as a user-friendly yet highly refined solution for terminology workflow management within SDL MultiTerm Workflow, the two latest programs – smartQuery and globalReview – are valued tools for countless customers, especially in the DACH region. With SDL as the distributor, Kaleidoscope stands ready to serve its customers with the largest and most experienced sales team in the industry. “It has always been our goal to build on the solutions from SDL and use our ideas to cover specific niche requirements, such as query management or translation management,” explains a satisfied Klaus Fleischmann, Managing Director of Kaleidoscope. “Even more pleasing is that quickTerm is now being joined by globalReview and smartQuery as solutions marketed by SDL on the global stage, thus validating our approach.”

smartQuery: Harness the Potential of Translator Queries!

Queries come up in almost every translation project. While they are often considered a nuisance, these queries present enormous potential for enhancing quality and lowering costs. But only if you deal with queries in a systematical way using Kaleidoscope’s query management solution: smartQuery. With this web-based workflow system, you can enter, edit, delegate, answer, archive, search and re-use translator queries in a user-friendly and collaborative environment. The feedback on the text provided by these queries is not only made available to the entire translation team, but to the authors and subject specialists throughout the company as well.

globalReview: Quality Management Gives the Review a New Role

globalReview is Kaleidoscope’s simple yet professional online review solution. It extends the power of SDL Trados Studio, GroupShare or WorldServer to the web, enabling a smart in-country review process – and all without repeated and manual conversion steps. globalReview empowers translators, reviewers and project managers to efficiently and effectively collaborate on polishing and finalizing translation projects without needing any

special technological requirements. It enables qualitative assessment and quality tracking according to customer-specific quality criteria, such as meaning, terminology or stylistic errors, while sampling is also supported. By calculating translation quality based on representative samples, a solid impression of the overall translation quality of the project can be achieved without having to actually review the entire project. And with the Layout Add-On developed by our partner Portamis, globalReview even offers the option of checking the translation directly in the original layout – without ever leaving your web browser.
