Co-Founder & Commercial Director
Andrew Smart is the Commercial Director at Slator responsible for product development and pricing, online ad and research sales, and event sponsorships.
Prior to co-founding Slator, Andrew has worked in the media, internet and finance industries including managing media businesses for Thomson Reuters, Fairfax Media and The Economist Group. He has an MBA in Finance and Investments from The George Washington University in Washington DC and has been based in Asia for over 25 years.
Co-Founder & Managing Director
Based in Zurich, Florian Faes spent over eight years working in Asia, stationed in Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai. Before launching Slator in 2015, he was with CLS Communication as Head of Asia and he was part of group management during the trade sale to Lionbridge.
Vice President of Internationalization, Product Quality, and Product Experience Analytics
Iris Orriss serves as Vice President of Internationalization, Product Quality, and Product Experience Analytics at Facebook. She has been with Facebook since January 2013 and it passionate about eliminating the internet language and cultural barriers – enabling access for everyone in their language and cultural context. In addition, Iris is a director on the board at the Unicode Consortium. Prior to Facebook, she was a director at Microsoft working on product internationalization and development process in the enterprise and language technology divisions. She is a native of Germany, speaks four languages, and was educated at Freie Universität Berlin.
Patrik Attemark, CEO of Semantix since October 2017, has a proven track record of successfully driving change management strategies during several buy and build assignments for private equity in various industries. In his session at SlatorCon London 2020, Patrik will share the lessons learned, the critical success factors and the focus for Semantix going forward. Patrik holds a master’s degree in Business & Administration from Stockholm School of Economics.

Ed Bussey is Founder and CEO of Quill, the global leader in multi-language content production for eCommerce. Prior to launching Quill in 2011, Ed was Chief Operating Officer at ZYB, an award-winning social networking pioneer acquired by Vodafone Plc in may 2008. Ed was also part of the founding team and Global Marketing Director for online retailer Figleaves.com, acquired by N Brown Plc in Oct 2020.
Ed has held non-executive director, chairman and advisory positions with companies including, Mr. & Mrs. Smith Boutique Hotels, Bauer Media Group, Charles Tyrwhitt & Secretsales. Ed began his career in the Royal Navy and held various security appointments with the UK diplomatic service.

Balázs Benedek is co-founder and CTO of Easyling.com, a technology partner of LSPs providing Translation Proxy and in-browser website translation solutions using a mix of human and machine translation throughout the workflow.
Having graduated at the Budapest University of Technology, he has 20 years’ experience in developing solutions to business challenges, including localization tools for the language industry. As a seasoned theoretical and practical IT expert, he has a passion for applying cutting-edge technology and coaching the next generation of software developers.
Piotr Misztal is a Partner at Value4Capital (V4C), an independent Private Equity firm, investing in mid-market buy-out transactions. Piotr has over 20 years of experience in private equity investing. He led or participated in numerous transactions from various industry sectors in the European markets. Most recently Piotr focuses on service industries with digital component.
Prior to establishing V4C, he was a Partner at The Riverside Company, a US mid-market private equity firm with global operations. Before joining private equity industry, in the 90-ties, Piotr has held various corporate finance and advisory positions, among others at Bank Austria, Wasserstein Perella, and KPMG. Piotr has Master of Sciences degree of Moscow State Institute for International Relations and Diploma in Business Administration from Canadian International Management Institute.
Tom Klein is Co-CEO of Morningside, a global leader in intellectual property services and solutions and one of the fastest growing LSP’s over the last decade. Prior to leading Morningside, Tom held various executive leadership positions at employment background check leader Sterling. Tom began his career at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and was a Princeton-in-Asia fellow with American International Group in Thailand. Tom holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Princeton University.
Esther spent several years in France and Luxembourg for work and study, and has since returned to her native London. She has a strong languages background, having studied for degrees in French & Linguistics and Translation & Interpreting. She went on to pursue a career in the Language Services industry, where she gained PM, technology and management experience before joining the Slator team.
