ASTM F3130 – 18, the Standard Practice for Language Service Companies (LSC) is the only standard that audits the stability, reliability and financial and operational health of a Language Service Company.
Drawn up with the participation of freelance linguists, language service purchasers and language service companies, this new standard is the result of nearly a decade of work aimed at giving a higher level of professionalism and recognition to the language industry.
This standard specifies the basic policies, processes, procedures and resources needed by an LSC to provide quality services, and certification gives clients a high degree of confidence that the LSC can consistently deliver the services they require over time.
To certify under this standard, the auditors consider operational and financial health, insurance coverage, adherence to the law, client satisfaction, ability to recruit and screen employees and independent contractors, commitment to Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA), adequacy of IT resources (hardware and software), and data and physical security.
Charles Campbell, President of Translation Back Office, states “I am so proud of our team’s ASTM F3130 – 18 efforts. Very very few language service companies have achieved certification worldwide. ASTM F3130 certification will truly differentiate our commitment to quality management.”
